Injured patients who want to help and be heard,

Thomas Jefferson said that given the choice between
government without newspapers and newspapers without government, he would choose
to have newspapers.
In medicine we have government without newspapers. Patients
cannot find out what they need to know to make informed choices. No one in
medicine records or reports the information patients need to know the most. So
patients will have to.

Someone asked:
I'd like to know when a doctor or nurse should report an injury to the police or someone else.
An injury incurred in healthcare needs to be reported to help the system as much as the patients. The only way the system can become more nearly safe is by the community being aware of when it was not. Internal reporting has proven to be nearly useless. Even crimes are covered up. The
community must know. If there is an injury, to whom must it be reported for your community to know? You are not merely a nurse or doctor. You are a citizen, a human being, who knows something the community needs to know.
If you want me to notify you when the response to your note
has been posted,
my contact information is at the bottom of every page.
